Meet The Brand New Range Rover Evoque

On November 22, 2018 presentation of the new Range Rover Evoque took place. The compact crossover of premium segment replaced the previous generation - Range Rover introduced the new model Evoque, which is now available in the 5-door body only. The presentation of the luxury SUV, which was held in London, was attended by movie, fashion and sport celebrities.

Almost 2 years after revealing first photos of updated Evoque, Land Rover officially presented the second generation model. The new product is similar to the new Range Rover Velar. As it was mentioned by the company, externally new Evoque differs from the old version only with a slightly modified optics on LEDs, modified bumpers and rear lights, which previously had an overlay between. For the exterior, designers have developed two new colors: the warm silver shade of Seoul Pearl Silver and the metallic Nolita Gray. Eco-friendly materials, in particular, combined wool textiles and artificial suede created using recycled plastic, were used in the interior trim.

Visually, the car seems to have increased size, but, in fact, it is almost the same as its predecessor. The transition to the Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA) platform has made more space for the passengers on the back seat, the luggage compartment has also become more spacious (increased by 10 percent) - 610 liters (1,430 liters with the rear seats folded).

The interior also resembles Velar style - a pair of touch screens dominate on the cabin’s central console, which, however, are optional equipment. The instrument panel is also digital, seats are equipped with adjustment in 16 directions, and an air ionizer is built into the climate system. Revised platform allowed a 13% increase in body rigidity, and, at the same time, significantly reduced the level of noise and vibration in the cabin. In each car, to reduce the impact on the environment, up to 33 kilograms of natural and recycled materials were used. The wheelbase length was increased by 21 millimeters.

The transfer of the Evoque to the new platform also made it possible to equip the crossover with hybrid power plants. The model will be available in the "soft" hybrid version, which will include a 4-cylinder engine, 48-volt electric and a hybrid component, which will allow a 296-strong power plant to recover the braking energy.

The internal combustion engine will shut off at a speed of 17 km / h, when the driver presses the brake, and all the energy received will flow directly into the battery. During acceleration time, electricity will help the gasoline engine. In the beginning of sales, new Evoque will receive a 246-horsepower gasoline turbo engine. Both units will be combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Later there will be other motors, about which there is no data yet.

All Evoques will have all-wheel drive system and already in the basic version they will be equipped with the Terrain Response, offering a choice of General, Eco, Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Ruts and Auto modes, giving the opportunity to adjust the suspension and electronic systems for a specific terrain without driver’s manual adjustment. The ground clearance of the compact Range Rover will be impressive - 212 millimeters.

The car is equipped with the world's first technology ClearSight Ground View, which provides the driver with a 180-degree virtual overview of the space. ClearSight Ground View uses video cameras (with a hydrophobic coating that repels water and dirt) in the grille and side mirrors to display a picture of the multimedia system in front of the car and under the bottom in front. Moreover, the rear view mirror can be transformed into a video screen. A special camera allows you to see everything happening behind the car on the mirror, even if the passengers are blocking the rear window.

The model was the first Land Rover with Smart Settings technology, which analyzes the habits of the owner. The system learns about its approach and adjusts the position of the seat and steering wheels by presetting. After several trips, the car "remembers" preferred settings for temperature, multimedia and the most frequently dialed phone numbers. The owner will also be able to track the location of his car, remotely close or open it, check the level of remaining fuel and cool or warm the cabin from a smartphone in the InControl Remote application.

Range Rover Evoque received more than 217 international awards, and sales of this model reached 772,096 vehicles worldwide. Detailed information about the new Range Rover Evoque, the cost of the crossover and start of its sales will be announced in February 2019 at the Chicago auto show.
