Incredible Off-Road Capabilities of the Land Rover Discovery SVX

Land Rover says that the Discovery SVX is not just a new model in the Land Rover Discovery lineup, but the most extreme vehicle that the company has designed so far. It was created by Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) professionals, who previously worked on the luxury SVR and SV Autobiography models, so the Discovery SVX will be their first product aimed at the ultimate off-road performance.

Discovery SVX will be the most powerful vehicle among all Discovery models - it will have 5-liter supercharged V8 petrol engine performing 525PS peak power and 625Nm torque. The vehicle will be available with the eight-speed automatic transmission (managed via Pistol Shifter, like in the Range Rover Sport) and advanced suspension modifications. Particular attention should be given to the Hydraulic Active Roll Control (H-ARC) feature which is new to the Land Rover Discovery. It reduces vehicle body roll when tackling rough terrain and gives increased wheel articulation, so the SVX will provide a smooth off-road driving experience.

Both entry and exit angles have been increased due to the raised air suspension, long stroke shock absorbers and revised levers. The manufacturer equipped the SUV with 20-inch alloy wheels with universal tires 275/55 R20 Goodyear Wrangler. And this is not the entire list of off-road modifications. Discovery SVX has got central and rear differentials with locking feature as well as transmission management software and an optimized Terrain Response 2 system. Among other systems that comprise the SVX modification are Hill Descent Control, Adaptive Dynamics and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), variable ratio electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), and All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC).

Externally, the Discovery SVX is very different from other Discovery models. It has a matte Tectonic Grey paint with Rush Orange graphic elements, plastic lining on bumpers, anti-reflective coating of the hood and grille, painted in the color scheme Narvik Black, two LED luminaries on the roof, a winch installed in the rear overhang, and towing eyes, each of which is capable of withstanding a load of more than six tons. The interior finishing is made in Lunar and Light Oyster colors with orange accents and SVX logos on the seats.

Discovery SVX was presented in Frankfurt on September 2017. The production of Land Rover Discovery SVX by SVO workers has already started. Now clients can register their interest at the website of Jaguar Land Rover. Official prices for the model have not been announced yet. Meanwhile, you are welcome to learn about the Land Rovers updates for the 2018 and 2019 model year.
